Katrin Luchsinger, PhD, studied art history and psychology in Zurich. She received her doctorate with a cultural-analytical thesis on artistic creation in psychiatric institutions in Switzerland from 1850 to 1930. Until 2019, she was a Professor for early modernity and aesthetic theory at the Zurich University of the Arts in the Department of Cultural Analysis and conducted several snf-supported research projects at the Institute for Cultural Studies in the Arts, focusing on art and psychology around 1900. In 2022 she was awarded with the scholarly prize of the Dr. Margrit Egnér-Foundation . She was the scientific advisor for the exhibition "Behind Walls. Photography in Psychiatric Institutions from 1880 to 1935" at the Kunstmuseum Thurgau and worked to history of photography. Since recently she is a Foundation board member of the Museum Thalwil responsible for its cultural-historical collection. More often she turns towards contemporary art.
